Grant Schemes

During his time as a conservation officer and in private practice afterwards Jonathan was responsible for running and advising on several grant schemes, including acting as lead officer for the Settle to Carlisle Railway Conservation Area Partnership. Since establishing JWRC he has provided technical advice for two Townscape Heritage Initiative grant schemes for the Orkney Islands Council, overseen grant works for the Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust, and surveyed field barns in the Yorkshire Dales for the Farming in Protected Landscapes grant scheme.

The Grant Schemes that we have been involved with

The Stromness Townscape Heritage Initiative grant scheme employed us to make periodic inspections of grant-aided works on site and to certify that they had been completed to the agreed standard.

We acted as technical advisors to the Kirkwall Townscape Heritage Initiative grant scheme. We checked the specifications, drawings and other documents submitted with grant applications, visited the buildings, and advised whether the proposed works met the eligibility criteria and were in accordance with Historic Scotland conservation guidance.

We acted as grant works inspectors for the Stories in Stone project, run by the Yorkshire Dales Millenium Trust. We oversaw works to field barns on site on behalf of the Trust and certified that they had been completed to the required standard.

We surveyed nearly 40 field barns in the Yorkshire Dales to assess their historic significance and condition for the Farming in Protected Landscapes grant scheme administered by the National Park. We oversaw repair works to the barns that received grant assistance.
